Argenton-sur-Creuse in one day

©L. Hauchard 9:30 : I just arrived at Argenton-sur-Creuse. I immediately head to the tourist office, located on Place de la République in the city center. There, the advisors give me the “city walk” document and explain all the things not to be missed. For those who want it, there is also a list of restaurants, a producers' guide, and other documentation on the rest of Berry.
9:45 am : Off we go for about an hour's walk to discover the town. The route takes me along the banks of the Creuse, to see the houses with galleries, not forgetting the chapel of the Good Lady and the climb up its 77 steps.
11:00 AM : Back at Place de la République, I stroll down Rue Gambetta and discover a local specialty: Argenton croquettes, offered by the La Maison Wladimir pastry shop . If I'm in Argenton on a Saturday, I take the opportunity to visit the market (nominated twice for the "Most Beautiful Markets in France" award by TF1).
12:00 : Noon sharp, I set off in search of a restaurant to taste fresh, local products.
Alternative: I shop at the bakery and delicatessen for a picnic in the Jardins de la Grenouille.
14:00 PM : A short stroll along the Creuse River on the Rabois promenade, a favorite spot for Argenton residents. Don't hesitate to step inside the Moulin du Rabois Contemporary Art Center to discover the current exhibition.
15:00 PM : I'm now heading to the Museum of Shirtmaking and Men's Elegance, located in the former shirt-making workshop. I'm discovering the life and work of the shirtmakers, and learning about the different stages of shirtmaking. This museum also tells the story of men's clothing, from the medieval period to the present day. I'm also making sure to visit the exhibition hall, which hosts exhibitions throughout the year on various topics related to textiles and elegance.
16:30 pm : I stroll along the main street, looking for souvenirs and local products. I take one last look at the old bridge and admire the beautiful houses with galleries before heading back.
