Around the portrait of George Sand, the artist Aurore Puifferat presents views of yesterday and today of these "Sandian sites", between romanticism and impressionism, the rendering of light and emotions all in harmony of colours.
In her book, *Promenade autour d'un village* (A Walk Around a Village), George Sand wrote: "It is paradise and chaos that one finds in turn; it is an uninterrupted succession of charming or magnificent scenes, changing their aspect at every step, for the river is very winding, and, as in many places it crashes against the rock, one must often ascend and descend, consequently seeing the different sections, always delightful, these sites composed and linked to one another like a series of poetic banks." Thanks to George Sand's influence, the valley attracted numerous painters and established itself as a major center of artistic creation. Becoming a privileged source of inspiration for plein air painting, it nourishes here a series of paintings executed in soft, dry pastel.
