Tourist tax

Created in 1910, the tourist tax was introduced in our territory on January 1, 2018. Decision approved by the community council on September 26, 2017.

The tourist tax is a local tax payable by any person staying temporarily in a territory, in commercial accommodation (hotel, gîte or furnished tourist accommodation, campsite, bed and breakfast, youth hostel, holiday village, tourist parking area and motorhome area).

  • Obligations for hosts: Display the tourist tax rates in force in the territory of the community of communes of the Vallée de la Creuse. Collect the tourist tax. Pay the tourist tax. Maintain an up-to-date register of the host/renter (arrival date, number of nights, number of people, etc.). Any host who fails to meet these obligations is liable to prosecution.
  • Obligations for the Community of Communes: The community is required to follow the scales set by law, and therefore to vote on increases when necessary. The price list is sent to hosts every year, and downloadable on the CDC website and here.

Rates are set according to fixed ranges and percentages determined by the General Code of Local Authorities (CGCT), based on the types and categories of accommodation, and are approved by the National Assembly. Locally, the inter-municipal authority decides on the rate it wishes to apply for each category of accommodation, within the limits of the imposed ranges. The rate schedule can be downloaded below. It is also available in English.

Every overnight stay requires a tourist tax. It is due per night and per person.

For classified accommodation, the amount is fixed, and depends on the accommodation category and classification.

For unclassified or pending classification accommodations, the amount is a percentage and the calculation is done differently.

The tourist pays the tax to the accommodation provider or booking platform. It is collected directly by the provider or platform and added to the accommodation price. It must appear on the invoice or payment receipt.

A platform for declaring the tourist tax is available to accommodation providers, on which they must enter the following information: number of nights stayed, number of people staying, taxable persons, and the amount of tax collected. All information concerning the accommodation provider and the property is already entered, so your personal account is created automatically. If you do not have a username and password, or if you have lost them, please contact us.

The year is divided into two periods:
du 1er December to May 31 (S1) statement of the 1ster as of June 15.
the 1er June to November 30 (S2), statement from November 25 to December 10.
